HCI Project 2007

HCI 2 is a module at the Computer Science school at the University of Birmingham. The HCI Project 2007 blog is the place where the team will discuss ideas and processes involved in developing a 'useful piece of technology' for our target audience - children <= 11 years old.

More Ideas

Later on after the initial meeting, Elliot, John and I thought of 3 more possible design ideas:
  1. A tool to monitor medication intake so it is easy for children to remember when to take it, for example an adapted inhaler to warn the child when they have taken the maximum prescribed.
  2. A sports training system utilising similar technology to that of the Nintendo Wii, allowing the child to learn and simulate the basic reflexes required for certain sports. This piece of technology could be used in schools to teach P.E.
  3. An application that simulates a child's desktop for a PC, allowing the child to easily learn how to use a computer by using bright colours and basic text, with all complexities well hidden.

These can be discussed further at the next meeting.
