Case: Wii Sports and Training

In connection to the idea of a training piece of technology, I have found an article on how the Wii console can be used as a training and fitness tool.

The training and fitness facility is part of the Wii Sports game available for the console. The idea of creating a game for training purposes is not something new to Nintendo and has been attempted before on their Nintendo DS hand held console with their game Brain Age for the purposes of educating your brain.

Wii Sports training and fitness tests your ability across balance, speed and stamina as shown in the above picture, it can also give the user a fitness age based on the overall results. A wide range of different sports are used in the assessment for the three main areas the program covers.

This shows that the same Wii handheld controller can be used across a broad range of sports with all the different sensors to control the game inside the device. This therefore means that the consoles controller can be used in many different games and sports in different ways to help in fitness and training.

The Wii console with Wii sports is available for £179.99 from GamePlay found here

Excellent post, nice images and good information. This will be very useful if we decide that the sports tool is the direction we want to go in.
